How do I wash polished concrete floors?

Using a microfibre mop, you have some choices about the type of edge that you use to wash your polished concrete. At Grind and Seal, we recommend using a straight-edged microfibre mob as opposed to the edge with the ‘fringes’ along it. This way, you can walk straight ahead while pushing the mop in front of you, and when you get to the end of the floor, you can swivel the mop head around and go back the other way. We’ve found from our experience that a straight edge keeps all the dust/fibres caught on the mop, whereas fringed edges tend to drop any dust or dirt from the swivel, making it more difficult to contain the particles that you have mopped up. Of course, please be sure to always use a pH balanced cleaning solution and avoid any overly acidic or alkaline cleaners. There are a number of cost-effective pH balanced cleaners available, including products from Bunnings. If you are cleaning outside Honed concrete (the non-slip ‘polished concrete’ for outdoors), we strongly recommend that you use a hose. Never use a gurney, as it pushes into the pores and can push out the grout.
