Can we have a topping slab poured over our existing flooring? How thick does a concrete slab have to be to be polished?

Yes, it is possible to have a topping slab poured over existing flooring. Please keep in mind that any screed or topping slab needs to be an absolute minimum of 70mm thick. The maximum recommended thickness is 100mm. These recommendations are in place to ensure both the strength of the concrete and its longevity. Also, the weight of the grinding and polishing machines alone could crack a thinner slab, so it is very important to make sure that your concrete slab is between 70mm and 100mm in thickness.
