Does polished concrete require a lot of maintenance?
This depends on which procedure you have had done for your floor. Mechanically polished concrete (MPC) or Hiperfloor is generally maintenance-free for up to 10 years. After that point, your MPC or Hiperfloor will simply need a protective (penetrating) sealer reapplied.
As for a grind and seal finish, we suggest that you have these floors resealed every 4 to 7 years. This figure varies greatly because it is dependent on how the floor is treated. Some of the factors include whether you are using a pH-balanced cleaning product (which we always recommend), as well as the amount of traffic you will have over the floor. Areas such as hallways will always have more foot traffic than bedrooms or living areas, for example. Basically, the higher foot traffic, the more likely you might want to have your floor resealed closer to 4 years, but in a lower traffic area, it may be fine to wait 7 years. As mentioned, using the proper pH-balanced cleaning products can also help ensure the durability and low maintenance of your floor.

We first used Grind and Seal at our Braeside premises in May 2018 to prepare our concrete floor into a beautiful shiny area for some vintage cars.
